It is my first time to join an 18KM event or perhaps the first time in the Philippine races to have an 18 kilometer longest distance (I'm not quite sure with this though). AFFI (Association of Filipino Franchisers Inc.) supported this event together with Affinitea Brown Race as the event organizer. Actually my first time to run with Affinitea, I have tried with Runrio, Runtarantantan and Takbo.PH.
Huh, looks like everything as "first", how many times did I mentioned that word?
Anyway, I only had one 10KM training at the Ayala Triangle Gardens prior to this event, although I have a regular badminton practice twice a week so I guess that was a huge help completing this event. The route is pretty much familiar as I had few races before in MOA - Roxas Boulevard - Baclaran area but the start to finish route of EntrepRun is completely different. And as usual I stayed in my slow yet continuous pace.
However, I am now experiencing one of the most common running injuries. I don't know if you heard the Plantar Fasciitis. I don't even know what that is, the word itself is hard to pronounce. Eeeesh! Let us check with www.webmd.com to define what this is.
Plantar Fasciitis (PLAN-ter fash-ee-EYE-tus) is the most commong cause of heel pain. The plantar fascia is the flat band of tissue (ligament) that connects your heel bone to your toes. It supports the arch of your foot. If you strain your plantar fascia, it gets weak, swollen, and irritated (inflamed). Then your heel or the bottom of your foot hurts when you stand or walk.
It started at 15KM and I can barely walk and of course run. It's really hard to walk, every step was in pain. I decided to just walk slowly for about 1 kilometer and didn't mind the time at all. All I want is to finish the race whatever the time result is. I was planning to remove my shoes and run barefoot, but it is not advisable for flat-footed. I relaxed my feet by walking slowly, and when I felt the pain is fading I run again for the last 2 kilometers at the CCP Complex area.
Here are the photos courtesy from running photographers. A really huge thanks to these, I guess this is the only run so far where I had so many photos. You'll also notice that I have that triangle gesture, yes, I recently joined the Ayala Triads group. Not yet official but soon..by the way they are one of the toughest running group in the country yet the most awesome.
RUN WHILE YOU CAN...RUN, SWEAT, SMILE --REPEAT!
